This week we have been very lucky to be graced with the presence of Libby Brookshire, daughter of a fellow teacher and friend of mine. On Monday she happened to mention Zentangles and I promptly engaged her help in leading a lesson on it. This girl took this job very seriously and came to camp today highly prepared for the activity. The kids were excited to learn about it and create their own drawings using the concept of repeated patterns.
After drawing, we moved on to the engineering challenge of the day. Rubber band cars! Instructions were distributed and the building began. I love how creative these kids have been this week and how much more comfortable they were today with 'failing' and trying again. Many prototypes were built with varying degrees of effective functionality and I could hear their brains whirring!
After the race cars, we moved on to centers rotating around coding, Lego™, and Sphero.
Another fun day was had by all!
