Ms. Jessica Fuselier and me cannot be more thankful for the time we have spent with nine young women at Forest Trail Elementary school in Austin, Texas, this Fall. Today was, sadly, the last day of class until February. I drove up to the Shipley's Drive-Thru at 6:30am to pick up some donuts for my young women. I was sad, really sad! Yes, I even cried. A fellow professional and friend shared a post she wrote on Lean In. Her parting words were, “How should I prepare for this big new opportunity?” My advice is the same as it’s always been: find what matters. Everything else will fall into place."
I believe I have found what matters.
A young woman named Cloey cried this morning too. She was sad the classes were ending... for now.
A crying child rarely warms my heart. These tears did. She cares. She knows. She can.
Watch this space.
